okay i have a 1988 325i and i just changed the oil in the car but the oil service bar is still on yellow is still on how do i reset it?How to reset the oil service indicator on a 1988 bmw 325i (MY SELF)?
You can do it with a paper clip, but if you make a mistake you can easily fry your car's engine computer.
Much better to use a proper reset tool. Better yet to get one with a code reader. Peake Research makes an economical one that's available direct, or at discounts from other BMW specialist advertisers. I have one, and it works well. How to reset the oil service indicator on a 1988 bmw 325i (MY SELF)?
Using the PEAKE R5 RESET TOOL for BMWs you can reset the oil service indicator by inserting the R5 tool into the connector plug located under the hood. Turn on the ignition key, Observe the yellow ';READY'; light, press the ';RESET'; button and count the red flashes to clear the OIL SERVICE indicator lights. Seven flashes for Oil Service, 23 flashes for Inspection indicator light.
Send me an Email to THEBMWGOD at yahoo and I'll send you a picture.
Its all to easy BUT your SI board, the board that controls the light and much more may be bad and you can never get it to reset and stay reset. You do as in the picture I will send then turn the key to the on position and wait to see all green lights maybe longer to reset the SERVICE light. And its done. The picture is important all the examples I have seen on the internet are fuzzy and you can fry the computer sticking wires into the wrong holes.
