While it is correct that the message will go away after a few minutes of driving, it will re-appear every time you restart your car until you bring it into your local Volvo dealer or authorized mechanic to have it reset. It WILL NOT just go away eventually. Every once in a while, one of my technicians will forget to reset this light, especially if the light had not come on yet. In this instance, I just have the customer come back in and have the message reset. It takes all of 5 minutes to do so.
Enjoy your beautiful XC90!!
You cannot reset the code. It must be done at the dealer. Any attempt at doing it yourself MAY VOID THE WARRANTY!
I only tell you this so that doesn't happen!!!
Where do you live??? First off, you do not need to go to the dealer to have your oil changed. Unlike BMW and Mercedes, you can got o Jiffy Lube and it will cost you about $25 bucks. They may not be able to reset the code for you but any self respecting dealer would not charge you to do that. If you bought your XC90 from that dealer, I would place a complaint with the GM if they do.
I am a dealer and we charge $39.99 for an Oil Change but that includes a whole safety check and a log into the Volvo HQ for them to do a system check.
I am very curious why some idiot has given me a thumbs down when all I did was answer truthfully to this question? What is the code to reset the message in my 2007 Volvo XC90 that reminds me I need regular service oil change?
It should tell you in your owner's manual how to reset it. It is a combination of pressing the trip odometer and turning the ignition on. Check the information board below or ask your question there. I am sure someone there can help you. What is the code to reset the message in my 2007 Volvo XC90 that reminds me I need regular service oil change?
It should go away by itself or if it gets annoying you can take it to a dealer and get them to reset the message it should only take a few minutes.
