Do quick-service oil-change shop employees get commissions on the work they do?

Every time I get my oil changed they work pretty hard trying to sell me on other fluids and filters, even when I know they don't need it.Do quick-service oil-change shop employees get commissions on the work they do?
First, it depends on which chain, but basically: yes. Bonus might be a better word, but same dif...

Most places will give the ';seller'; a 50-cent or $1 for bottled upsells like engine flush or engine additives, then they will have periodic (most likely monthly) bonuses of $50 or $100 for highest ticket or highest ticket average.

A few places say that they will ever sell you anything you don't need, but they use some form of scripted language that sounds like ';smart people like YOU would do this service'; or ';you would be stupid not to.'; They (the shop in general) have a vested interest in getting the most money out of a single visit, so getting the employees to upsell is essential for the bottom line.

Hope that helps...Do quick-service oil-change shop employees get commissions on the work they do?
They are paid slightly above minimum wage. They are pressured to up-sell anything they have. They probably get a commission on the things they sell. That's their motivation to get higher pay or to keep their job. They'll sell you the whole store's inventory if you'd buy it.
no commissions just employment recognition
