How do i reset service light after i change oil in the bmw?

You need a code reader that allows reseting the service engine light. How do i reset service light after i change oil in the bmw?
Depends on what year but most need a scanner to reset them. You may have to go to a dealer or a repair shop that has the scan tool to do it .Not some thing you can do by yourself without buying a 300 buck toolHow do i reset service light after i change oil in the bmw?
it should reset its self after so many cycles, (starts, as in running)..
Take a short piece of wire and create a jumper to go between pins 7 and 10 if your car is equipped with the 20 pin connection and you have an E30 series bmw. Once the connection is made turn the key to the on/run position (do NOT turn it to the start position) and wait for the inspection and oil service lights to go out. (the red and the yellow) and immediately turn the key to the off position, remove the jumper, replace the 20 pin cover and start the car normally.
yeah Joe K has the correct advice, you can google that also and someone has a web site showing how he made the tool, you dont need to buy one,, but it is a dang nuicance,,,, my sons car never would reset correctly,

good luck
reset your oil light yourself and save what you need is aR5 tool from BAVARIAN AUTOSPORT www.bavauto.com sells for $69.95
hold down the reset button (milage reset button) and start the engine, continue to hold the button for about 5-10 secs after the engine starts and it should go away
If you can't figure it out and can't afford to take it back to the dealer, you shouldn't be driving a beamer. European cars are extremely high maintenance. If you're not mechanicaly inclined and aren't wealthy enough to finance a mechanics Caribeen cruise, don't buy a Eruo car.
there is a electrical connection under the bonnet which needs to be unplgged and then you need to connect a special too to it and then there is a sequence of turning ignition on and off whhile having the door open, its a load of crap really. I had 3 different BMW 3 series cars and all of them had the sevice lights comiing on for as long as i owned them without any problems. I wouldnt worry about it if i were you.
