K&N Oil Based Air Filter caused ';Service Engine Light'; on?

I have a 2000 Buick Regal LS, after recently changed the air filter to K%26amp;N Oil based filter, two weeks later, the ';Service Engine Light'; came on and stayed on, any ways to correct the problem? I had switched back to regular filter yesterday. The light is sitll on though.K%26amp;N Oil Based Air Filter caused ';Service Engine Light'; on?
I have heard that you can use throttle body cleaner and spray it in the wire but have to be careful as thats wire is thin and you can break it easy and those gm MAF sensors are not cheap. its a lesson all people with GM learns about these oiled filters. but your cel light is the MAF sensor.K%26amp;N Oil Based Air Filter caused ';Service Engine Light'; on?
Check the code first to make sure it is a mass air flow code. If so, try cleaning the MAF and have the code cleared
2 weeks went by between the new air filter and the light turning on. It is entirely possible, that the 2 have nothing to do with each other whatsoever.
The most common fault is over-oiling of the filter. It is likely that the excessive oil has been blown onto the AirFlow Sensor. Reinstating the original is ';useless'; as you need to clean the sensor.

Go with something that do not require oiling. I am using Hurricane steel filter ... very high flow and quite good.
More than likely you will have to get your mass airflow meter replaced, its a lesson lots of people have to learn with K%26amp;N filters. I have never heard of any way to clean them.
