Is it true that a Boxster can only be serviced (e.g., change oil, etc.) by a Porsche service center?

and the maintenance and repair costs expensive (for example, oil change fees around $120.00; routine service (e.g., every 7500 miles) or repair fees @ minimum $1000.00)?Is it true that a Boxster can only be serviced (e.g., change oil, etc.) by a Porsche service center?
It can be serviced by anyone although you may have warranty problems and (possibly) reduce the residual value by not having a full 'main dealer' service history. There are also little problems like re-setting service-due lights which main dealers claim only they can do but in my experience the info to do this can be found online.

In the UK it was made illegal to use the 'main dealer only' service a condition of a warranty but this may vary elsewhere.

No it is not true but an oil change will cost you that much since the filter alone is like 20 to 30 bucks plus the syntec oil. Also forget about replacing the spark plugs on this, the motor has to come down for that.
