? why would a truck have 15 quarts of oil/serviced by Jiffy/lube?

it almost caught on fire smoked hard/ can it affect the seals. Brake masters did the fix put some dye in it to check they said to come back in week.? why would a truck have 15 quarts of oil/serviced by Jiffy/lube?
these guys are true as to the problems coming from too much oil in an engine. perhaps the lube tech read it wrong or had the wrong vehicle engine pulled up on the computer. they SHOULD have noticed it before you left because anyone knows you always check your oil level after you change it. but i DO take a bit offense to those offering words of help who say that those in the quick-lube business are NON-mechanics. yes, walmart, jiffylube, precision tune, etc, supply the most problems that we see come through our shop. but i myself DO mechanic work, i know what i am doing, and it really pisses me off to no end when others say we arent real mechanics. while the majority may not be, some of us are, so dont group us all together? why would a truck have 15 quarts of oil/serviced by Jiffy/lube?
I think you've caught on! Fast oil change joints are manned with non-mechanics who make too many horrible mistakes. Why did you go to another non-mechanic brake shop? Jiffy Lube should be held accountable for any damages today and in the future to your motor. Are you aware what too much oil in a crankcase can do? - The crankshaft beats the living dog-meat out of the extra oil filling it with air bubbles very similar to an old fashoned milk shake. The oil pump forces air filled oil through the bearings and valve train. It's not unusual to actually seize a motor with too much oil.
Would help to know what kind of truck. Anyway, they probably did not think and the computer told them it was a deisel. I worked for the walmart lube express and a coworker did exactly that. The computer listed the truck as a deisel, so he put the 15 quarts of oil required by a deisel engine. Yes it can affect the seals. That much oil would put a lot of pressure on system while running. I would complain big time to Jiffy Lube and never go back there again. That might be the ';Im a real mechanic and they are not'; part of me talking though
if it is a ford diesel, that one takes 15 qts. but if an engine is over filled, that puts a great load on the front and rear main seals. it can create a major leak. since you did not mention a year, make or model i cannot go into it much more than that.

ford diesel 15 qts, dipstick is incorrectly marked but that is the correct oil quantity

dodge power stroke, 12 qts

chevy duramax 10 qts.
If it's not a diesel an idiot filled it
