What are all the fluids oil change services top-off when you get you car oil change?

well all depends on where you go and what you pay for. I own and operate 3 Pennzoil ten minutes and we check : power steering, brake fluid (although we do not add to the brake system we just check it and alert customer of level), anti-freeze/coolant, washer fluid, tranny fluid, rear differential, front differential, transfer case (if applicable), clutch fluid (if stick shift and hydraulic clutch). As far as the oil 5w30 is the recommended oil for that car. Brand is not important. I have all the major brands and they all meet the GF-4 specs. I hear stories all the time from customers that one is better than the other but in reality it is just how often you change it. I do not carry any non spec or recycled oils. I live in Michigan and about 2 hours south of me in Detroit they are using recycled oils and saying they are putting in Pennzoil and what not. Our distributor is looking into it and is thinking about getting legal help as this hurts our business although all Pennzoil Ten Minute Oil Changes are independently owned and operated it makes us all look bad. What are all the fluids oil change services top-off when you get you car oil change?
washer fluid, transmission oil if accessible, grease fittings(AKA zerk fittings) to lube your suspension, if there are any... coolant, brake fluid and power steering fluid. (this may vary by different service departments).

There are two things about oil (weight and brand/type):

As for the oil weight to use, it all depends on your the wear your engine has presently and what climate you live in. I used run 20w50 here in Southern California but the synthetic oil I'm using now only comes in 10w30. In colder climates, you'll want something thinner... 10w30 or so.

As for oil brand/type, personally I prefer full synthetic oil (Mobil 1, valvoline, etc) as this drastically increases the longevity of the engine as decreases the damage caused by friction. I know it is expensive, but it is well worth it (in my opinion)... even if you do not have an expensive hot-rod.

Your next thing to think about it are oil filters... The best oil filters are Bosch, Mobil 1 and K%26amp;N (not any order). They cost a bit more, but are worth it for the amount of contaminants they filter. The worst are usually the store brands, FRAM and Penzoil.

Radiator fluid (anti-freeze)

Windshield cleaner fluid

Brake Fluid

Power Steering Fluid

some of them even check the air in the tires, too!
oil, washer fluid, brake fluid, differental, power steering fluid, anti freeze, transmission fluid
Depends on where you go, some shops check more than others... the common fluids checked are:

Oil (obviously)

windshield washer fluid

brake fluid

antifreeze (radiator fluid)

transmission fluid

power steering fluid

clutch master cylinder fluid (on manual transmissions)

and rear end lube on trucks (although not common without a rear end service being purchased)

I have this Service Engine Soon on and still its ON after i change my oil....Whats wrong with it?

Service Engine Soon....I have this Service Engine Soon on and still its ON after i change my oil....Whats wrong with it?
I'm assuming it was on prior to the oil change. In almost all new cars, once you actually service the engine, the computer will need to be ';reset';. This simply means that you have to clear the code in the computer for the engine maintenance. This can be done by yourself, I don't know the exact procedure for mitsubishi's but the manual is bound to have it. If this is the first time it has happened, I would get it checked out after having tried to clear it yourself, bring it to the corner garage and have them plug it into the computer. This shouldn't cost more than 90$, and sometimes the dealership might do it for insanely cheap. I know that Autozone does it for free. They should give you a code that will tell you if there is something wrong with the car.I have this Service Engine Soon on and still its ON after i change my oil....Whats wrong with it?
What kind of car? could just need reset or could be an indication of other problems with the cars emision system
you have to re-set the computer after its serviced.
If it is a brand new car. If so, it will take some time to turn it off after you drive. It happens to me once when I had a 2003 Honda Pilot. I hope this helps.
take it to autozone and they will read your check engine light for free.(same as service engine) and tell you what your problem is.It takes a code reader to analyze your problem
Check engine lights can be various things, most manufacturers have them programmed in the cars computers to pop one at certain mileage intervals to suggest taking them to your dealership for service. They typically go away after a certain number of key cycles (turning the car on and off) Otherwise, you could always disconnect the battery for 15 minutes and hook it back up and see if the lights are still on. If they are, take it to a local auto parts store and ask them to check your codes, they do it for free.
Service engine light come on usually means you have to service the engine due to warranty (Mileage) . But afterwards did you disconnect the battery for 15 minutes. try it! After unhooking the battery on the neg side and then reconnecting, drive it for five miles, getting up 35 mph and just driving normal for you. This allows the computor to reset everything and learn your foot on both the brake and gas pedal as well as your steering. Does the light come back on. If so, then get a bypass key and stick it in ADAL connector and read the code and find out what is wrong.

On my '96 Chev Blazer, how do I reset '; service engine soon'; light, I just changed oil on it?

Run your truck past your local auto parts place and have them put a code reader on it. It's free. They can also clear the codes for you. This will let you know if you have an ongoing problem or just a take to dealer issue.

If you do the battery thing make sure and take off the negative first and put the positive on last.On my '96 Chev Blazer, how do I reset '; service engine soon'; light, I just changed oil on it?
well i'm from minnesota i just ingnore itOn my '96 Chev Blazer, how do I reset '; service engine soon'; light, I just changed oil on it?
if the light came on after you changed the oil, you did something wrong. Other than that it came on for a reason, you need a code reader to find out what the code is than diagnose the problem from there. Clearing it will not resolve the issue. On 96 and newer vehicles, the systems are called OBD 2. The service engine lights come on when there is an emissions related issue.
Service engine soon light has nothing to do with sevicing your vehicle in any manner.....its a system light that was designed at a certain mileage to come on and be taken to your dealer.....and they will most likely be the one to turn it out unless someone else knows the trick to tell you how !!!Doesnt indicate you have a problem or needs serviced !!!
disconnecting the battery will clear the codes from the computer. but you should have the computer read to see what codes are in it before you do this. auto zone has code readers
turn your key on and press your gas pedal 3 times within 10 seconds.

What oil to buy for a service?

Forgive me for sounding thick, but the last time I did a service on a car you could just use Castrol or Duckhams oils and all would be fine.

Now with newer technology all this has changed.

I am going to do a service on my Renault Megane 1.4 16 valve RT. It states in the owners handbook that 15/40 or 15/50 is reccomended, but I am unable to find a suitable oil at my local outlet. I saw one there that was 10/40 semi-synthetic and conforms to ACEA A3 (that is the one thats recommended). would this be a decent oil for my car please

thanks

voyagerWhat oil to buy for a service?
ask at the renault dealers these days if you pyt the wrong oil in cars it knackers them up.What oil to buy for a service?
Hi ray

The best thing to do is to pop into someone like ATS / Kwik fit centre for around 拢25 they will do just a standard oil and filter for you.

However, if you like to get your hand dirty, like me, then you can pop into Halfords look into the oil guide this will tell you what to use!, noting that Halfords own brand oil is Duckhams as we would know it...

The best thing i have found over the years.. if you have a modern car (few years old or less) fully or semi synthetic oil is best, older car 5- 10, best check with the book, as some use mineral (cheapest) other semi oils. but if yours is a little old, use castrol magnatec, is reasonably cheap, easy to find and a reliable oil, but if you have a few quid, then try fully synthetic oil, castrol edge, the best but at around 拢40-50 for 4 litres. look on eBay its a little cheaper.

hope this helps...
Take a look at Millers Oils web site, brilliant company with superb customer service, they do free analysis of used oil for customers. Cheers, Gizz.

Print up cards and advertise what you are doing at a discount price.Oil change service?
You can first go and get all the paperwork out of the way. Advertise by offering great low prices to gain a good clientle base. Word of mouth is the best kind of advertisment. Apply for a small buisness loan but they will get you a loan faster if you already have prior experience in the buisness you want to open.

What are the steps in servicing an oil boiler?

It's a 20 years old ';Grant'; boiler. What are the steps in servicing an oil boiler?
Call in a Plumber it is Illegal for you to touch it.What are the steps in servicing an oil boiler?
Being an oil burner mechanic myself, i suggest you call a pro. Too complicated for the average Joe.
call in a gas safe engineer if you are in the UK

you do not want to blow up your house as it is not a diy job
The others are right, there are too many things to consider when carrying out an oil service.

You need to have the proper equipment for testing and the appropriate fittings to replace during the service.

You would need such things as a gas flue analyser,an oil pressure gauge,a smoke pump.

Parts that would need replaced would be the burner nozzle, the flexi oil line and the filters.

    Use an OFTEC registered engineer.
