I had a '91 320i. I heard it was under one of the pedals (gas, brake, clutch?) in mine. I don't remember which one. To the GM Tech - I bought this car after owning a crappy GM car. I had more satisfaction with my Beemer.1991 BMW Service Light reset for oil change (How To?)?
Have a professional with the right tool reset the service light.
I just answered this same question yesterday, but I will do it one more time. In order to reset the computer, you must remove the negative(-) cable from the battery for at least 5 seconds in order to reset the ECM (computer). I have this information in a book. Good Luck!
buy american or go to wher your pos was made for your answer.
You might have to turn the ignition on and press the gas pedal three times. GM cars are the same way in that respect.

I wouldn't put with someone taking cheap shots at my ride either.
well you need 2 wires a 12 volt lamp.

1 wire end to car body ,other end to lamp end

open the conector cap ,the round one with lots of pins

another wire to no 8 pin and other lamp pole,

(no 8 maybe differ from 520 which i own

but try other ends no risk

some has lit the lamp some dont

you will see the oil and every service indicator will be reset

i do it for 14 years!!
check with ur dealer its free and will get the proper anser most of the time
K you need to go to local euro garage and they have a small hand held computer called a retreiver. It plugs into the round looking plug in your engine bay. takes 2 seconds they should do it for free!! You can NOT reset it your self. If you attempt to jump pins you can do dammage
