After I changed the engine oil and filter on bmw 318 the oil service light came on????????????
I thought it came on when it was due an oil service????BMW oil service light?
It comes on when a service is due, but must be reset. You don't need any special tools, see here;
(trust me, I've done it dozens of times)

Yes,they all do that these days. Normally whom ever changed the oil will re-set the light and it will go off. If you changed the oil yourself, you will have to take it to the dealer or oil change facility and they will re-set it for you. Good Luck! and Happy Holidays!
The light comes on at intervals,after certain engine run time or mileage.Should be reset right after an oil change.
