Service Light ON is coincidental. Your timing on the service coordinated with the engine computer. Consult the owner's manual. Usually the Trip Odometer selector switch is used to reset the Service Light.

Sometimes it comes on if you went to go get gas and someone did not seal the tank correctly , it will get air in there and your check engine light will come on. It does not mean that there is a real problem.
first check the oil, Then take it by auto zone and let them read the code they will tell you what is wrong, hope this helps that is a free service.
