2005 Mercury Mountaineer V6, recent Oil Change Filters Air & Oil, ';Service Engine soon Light came on weeks aft

Why would the ';Service Engine soon'; light come on after I did this service, also the on board computer in dash saes check gas cap, when cap appears to be all good? I always have to press reset at vehicle start up. Hmm? 1. cracked or leaking gas cap gasket.


2. leak in the fuel line.


3. a leak in one of the vacuum hoses.


4. and a lot more or a lot less.


The best bet is to have a service technician plug in the computer to their diagnostic computer to find out the real problem or even no problem at all.

Go to Auto Zone and they will scan the computer for codes for free and you can go from there.
the service light comes on automaticaly when the car has done a set amount of miles. when the car is serviced you need to reset the service light with a special key.
