Is it okay to wait until about 750 mi for the initial service/inspection/oil change rather than 500 mi?

I live quite a distance from the nearest Kawi dealer (I have an '09 Vulcan 500) and I'm not going to be able to get it there until this weekend and I'd like to continue riding it thru the week.Is it okay to wait until about 750 mi for the initial service/inspection/oil change rather than 500 mi?
As far as the bike is concerned, it makes no difference at all. I'd be surprised if it would void your warranty to go 250 over, but the dealer and manufacturer cannot require you to go to a dealer for scheduled maintenance. You can do it yourself and make a note on the log page at the back of the manual (they still have those, don't they?).

On those rare occasions when I have a new bike in my hands, I like to do a quick oil change at 25-100 miles, then the scheduled 500-mile change, and again at 1000, then avery 1500-2000 miles after that.Is it okay to wait until about 750 mi for the initial service/inspection/oil change rather than 500 mi?
That won't hurt anything. The first service should be done by the dealer though as they do check valve clearance and such; the next services are more basic. When I got my 750 back from it's first service, I could feel the increase in pep! Also it will probably have to stay overnight for it to completely cool so that everything can be adjusted accurately
the easy answer is YES.. but the better option is drop out the oil %26amp; put new stuff in yourself... then get the bike serviced /oil changed by the dealer at the end of the week.. costs you $20 for oil.. but if you show the dealer the receipt for the oil he will be more likely to hounor the warranty..

or you could just ring him %26amp; ask what he would prefer you do??
Call and ask.

When I did, HD said ';keep riding it';.
