Yes, I have a mazda 6 that I routinely get the oil changed at a jiffy lube or other local oil change places.
Despite what other answerers have said, jiffy lube keeps your records of service forever. I needed to get copies of those records for a previous vehicle I had and they provided them. They even track service you got at any jiffy lube in the US.Is it true that fo the Mazda 6 you must change your oil a mazda service center, or can you change it anywhere?
Just like any other car.. you can take it anywhere, or even do it yourself.
As long as you can prove that the oil was changed at the proper intervals with the correct oil type (some cars do have their own specific oils but they are not your average car) there is nothing they can do.
most manufactures want you to think only there products work in there vehicles...they charge higher rates and want your money...change it your self (recycling old oil of course)...or take it to independant oil change store..
Depending on what year and model 6 you have, I would consider taking it to the stealership. The 03-05 (*I think*) 2.3L I4 use a cartridge and not a spin on oil filter (same with the mazda 3 using that same engine). I have heard a couple of horror stories about people taking their car to jiffy lube and them snapping the plastic cup that holds the filter. People drive away leaving a nice oil slick when the pressure builds up and the oil drains from the car. Mazda later changed the cart to a spin on in mid 05.
Documentation, documentation.
MAKE SURE YOU CAN PROVE ALL MAINTENANCE ITEMS HAVE BEEN DONE.
If you end up needing to make a warranty claim, having the work done at a dealer will ease the process.
Having the work done some where else may put the warranty in jeopardy.
One more reason I don't often buy new cars (increased cost to maintain warranty).
